Summer Enrichment Program

Central United Methodist Church expanded its two week reading camp into a five week summer enrichment program, focused on reading, language and mathematics. The program hosted over 125 children from the Farish Street area and beyond June 8 through July 10, 2009. The Program Director was Ann C. Along with the financial support of Central United Methodist Church, the Summer Enrichment Program received grants from the Community Foundation of Greater Jackson and the Mississippi Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. We were also fortunate enough to be a Summer Food Service Program sponsor where we provided FREE daily meals of breakfast and lunch to children 18 and under. We were blessed to see approximately 100 children everyday. A special thanks to Terry V. for being our kitchen coordinator, along with her dedicated staff of kitchen workers. The Summer Food Service Program is under the direction of Mississippi Department of Education, Office of Child Nutrition.
